My practice in the healthcare space started as a young associate representing not-for-profit hospitals and hospital systems in joining larger systems.  I've since worked on joint ventures, surgery center deals, practice acquisitions, partner buy-ins as well as general counseling of physician practices, mental and behavioral health providers, and dentists.  I also work with start-ups, accelerators, life science companies, medical equipment manufacturers, business associates and covered entities.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Broad Experience

If you are an IT services provider, or you are contracting with one, I am ready to help.  I've spent years working with in-house counsel and business and sales teams negotiating MSAs, SOWs and related agreements with customers from Fortune 100 to single practice offices.  I learn your risk tolerance and what is most important to your particular business.  On the customer side, this experience helps me know what is negotiable so that we don't waste your valuable time or legal budget on the "perfect" solution.  I'll help you get to a solution that moves you forward in your business relationships.

JULIE E. TREUMANN, ESQ.

Founder and President

I believe in creating positive legal experiences by using my training and skills through a foundation of personal interaction.

You should feel comfortable that your lawyer not only understands your business goals but is also someone you can talk to.  I know that the law may not always be relatable, so I try to be, first and foremost, a relatable person - just one who also has legal knowledge and practical advice to share.

I love learning new things - which is one thing that is so great about being a lawyer!  I also love reading - and when I'm not reading contracts and statutes, I enjoy detective stories, historical fiction and The New York Times (old-school home delivery).  My favorite on-screen lawyers are Perry Mason, Saul Goodman, and Bob Loblaw.  My podcast queue includes My Favorite Murder, Stuff You Should Know, and Ridiculous History.

I love travel, art, color (especially orange and turquoise), tattoos, making lists, sitting in the sun, FaceTiming friends and family, and writing letters.  I'm a dog person and a kid person and a plant parent.

I went to: Palatine High School (Go Pirates!), St. Olaf College (Um! Yah! Yah!) and Loyola University Chicago School of Law (Go Ramblers!)

I am committed to excellence.

Whatever your legal needs or questions might be, come to me for comprehensive advice and thoughtful representation.  If you need something outside my practice area, I will help connect you with the right person.

ABOUT DE JURE DE FACTO, P.C.

de jure: pertaining to law

de facto: pertaining to fact; in practice

de jure de facto is not just a swell name, but also my client service philosophy. When working with clients, I strive to understand the details of their business as they see the facts, so that I can put my legal knowledge into practice for them.

I started de jure de facto, p.c. in May 2013 after practicing for twelve years with Ungaretti & Harris, LLP, now Nixon Peabody, where I was a partner in both the Corporate and Healthcare departments.  My cross-departmental background makes me uniquely qualified to address transactions with the skills of both a corporate attorney and a healthcare attorney.

I love learning about my clients and their businesses so I can provide informed, relevant, partner-level advice for their unique circumstances, without the big firm fees.
